Even though the reason for changing the dating is said to separate religion from science, in few centuries time, it will be forgotten by the mass majority that it was the visitation of our Saviour that marked the times.
It should be noted that the name of the weeks which has its origin in Pagan religious deities were NOT considered for revision while that had reference to the Saviour of humanity is replaced. Seems like "Christian Beliefs" always have some problem. Probably due to the misuse of power who were under 'Christian' banner
