Bible Message/Preaching : The need for Holy Spirit
"But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." (Acts 1:8)
Holy Spirit – The Spirit of God - The power - comes from God above - so that we can be witness for Jesus to everyone around us. - the order is Jerusalem then Judea then Samaria and then to the ends of the earth!
- Why do we need the Holy Spirit?
- What do we have when we have His Spirit in us?
- Wisdom & understanding so that we can comprehend what He wants from us specifically and to understand the Scriptures that has been inspired by the same Spirit!
- Counsel & might so that we can act upon what we have understood! To guide us in the right path.
- Knowledge & the fear of the Lord so that we walk in His path & not be fooled by the adversary/ satan.
- How can we be sure of this?
Jn 4:24 "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."
God Who is Spirit MUST be worshipped in Spirit & in truth. Because His children will worship Him so because they have the same Spirit as He!
Jesus said : Jn 4:23 "But the hour is coming, and now is, when the TRUE worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.
Isa 11:2 The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD.
And we read that our Body is the Temple of Holy Spirit (1 Cor 6:19) - Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? Since it belongs to Him, let us submit to Him so that He can have His way in us. Let's pray with Jesus that His will be done in our life on earth.
Act 1:5 "for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now."
And Holy Spirit was pored out on the day of Pentecost, like a mighty rushing wind and there lives were changed! Likewise our lives will also be changed and we'll bear the fruit of the Spirit.
We can or others will notice the change in our life – they will see Jesus in us! People will see that we're with Jesus. Don't think that it was only for a selected few – the apostles. This promise is to all.
Act 2:39 "For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call."
God is calling you, everyone! Today!!
Isa 28:11-12 For with stammering lips and another tongue He will speak to this people, To whom He said, "This is the rest with which You may cause the weary to rest," And, "This is the refreshing"; Yet they would not hear.
As we have read before, Jn 4:23 the time is NOW! If you believe God is faithful to provide the baptism of Holy Spirit to those who desire as in Act 1:5!
