Bible Message/Preaching : Hell is Real

"Assuredly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter; but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation"; (MK 3:28-29)

We're sealed with the Holy Spirit who is our Guarantee for the redemption! Eph 1:13-14 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.

We all have eternal life & we must trust God to receive this promise.

Rev 20:11-15 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

JN 5:28-29 "Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves G3419 will hear His voice and come forth; those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.”
G3419 mne¯meion, mnay-mi'-on; From G3420; a remembrance, that is, cenotaph (place of interment): - grave, sepulchre, tomb.

HEB 12:29 For our God is a consuming fire.
MT 7:19 "Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

Hell – Shocked that even some Christians do not believe it in anymore! It is OK that non-believers / atheists do not believe in heaven/hell. There are some popular notions, but I will tell you 3 including the Biblical teaching.

  1. Dead & remain there in the grave
  2. Sheol - Hebrew / Hades – Greek = grave
Ps 31:17b Let the wicked be ashamed; Let them be silent in the grave. Ps 115:7 The dead do not praise the LORD, Nor any who go down into silence. PS 139:8 If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.

    Act 2:31 "he, foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption. Pro 15:11a Hell and Destruction are before the LORD;

  3. Come up again for judgement and are annihilated
  4. Mal 4:1 "For behold, the day is coming, Burning like an oven, And all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble. And the day which is coming shall burn them up," Says the LORD of hosts, "That will leave them neither root nor branch.

2nd Death in Rev 20:14 - Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

  5. As per the Bible – wicked will go to 'hell' - the lake of fire or the everlasting fire for eternity.
  6. Luk 12:5 But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hellG1067; yes, I say to you, fear Him. Mt 10:28 "And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hellG1067.
G1067 Gehenna gheh'-en-nah Of Hebrew origin ([H1516] and [H2011]); valley of (the son of) Hinnom; Gehenna (or Ge-Hinnom), a valley of Jerusalem, used (figuratively) as a name for the place (or state) of everlasting punishment: - hell. The word translated hell is “Gehenna”, a Greek transliteration of the Hebrew words gehinnom (“Valley of Hinnom”). This was the valley along the south side of Jerusalem. In OT times it was used for human sacrifices to the pagan god Molech (cf. Jer 7:31; 19:5-6; 32:35), and it came to be used as a place where human excrement and rubbish were disposed of and burned. In the intertestamental period, it came to be used symbolically as the place of divine punishment (cf. 1 En. 27:2, 90:26; 4 Ezra 7:36).

This is not to make us afraid / freak-out but rather like a “danger” sign on HV line / dangerous chemicals!

Isa 66:24 And they shall go forth and look Upon the corpses of the men Who have transgressed against Me. For their worm does not die, And their fire is not quenched. They shall be an abhorrence to all flesh."

Lk 16:22-26 "So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham's bosom. The rich man also died and was buried. And being in torments in HadesG86, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. Then he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.' But Abraham said, Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented. And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.'"
G86 hade¯s hah'-dace From G1 (as a negative particle) and G1492; properly unseen, that is, “Hades” or the place (state) of departed souls: - grave, hell.

Jesus will not say this if this was not true!!

Many times He said that there shall be weeping & gnashing of teeth! -> If they are dead in grave/annihilated this cannot be!

Heb 12:29 Consuming fire --> This is symbolic showing the wrath of God & not annihilation

But, we know that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus! For by grace we've been saved through faith & that is not of ourself, but gift of God, not of works unless anyone should boast about it!!

1 THESS 4:16-17 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. - what a comfort!
