18For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man; and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things... 25who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. (Rom 1:18-25)
What comes to our mind when we think of the origin of life?
Gen 1:1-5 1In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth...3Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light. 4And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. 5God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day. 6Then God said, "Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters." 7Thus God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so. 8And God called the firmament Heaven. ... the second day. 14Then God said, "Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; 15"and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth"; and it was so. Gen 1:27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 1:31 Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day. Gen 2:4-6 4This is the history of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens, 5before any plant of the field was in the earth and before any herb of the field had grown. For the LORD God had not caused it to rain on the earth, and there was no man to till the ground; 6but a mist went up from the earth and watered the whole face of the ground. Gen 2:20-24 20So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him. 21And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. 22Then the rib which the LORD God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. 23And Adam said: "This is now bone of my bones And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man." 24Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
Is the Scriptures derived from wisdom of its writers? Moses was educated in Egypt but he proclaimed different things! Acts 7:22 "And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and deeds. Heb 11:24 By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, 25choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, 26esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward. Egyptian Wisdom:Only the ocean existed first, Earth flat disk afloat on river of ocean, Sun traversed the heavens like charioteer, sailed around the earth in golden bowl at night.....What anomalies/difference do we see in the creation account compared to popular knowledge? Whole Creation in 6 days and about 6000 years ago! Light Before Sun! Day & Night before Sun! Earth, Plants & Trees before Sun! Creatures in water and sky before land creatures. 2 layers of water (Gen 1:6-7), No rain (Gen. 2: 5) Age- People lived too long (Gen 5) Giants (Gen 6)
What is the significance of the 2 water layer? And what happened to it? Greenhouse effect, mild temperature, north pole to south pole Prevents air mass circulation, Prevents resultant rain Filter out harmful radiations from space, Reduce rate of somatic mutations in living cells & Decrease rate of aging and death. If we look at Gen 7:11, the water above was poured down!
What consequences are there if we cannot believe in the creation account? We make Jesus a liar or not-trustworthy: Mt 19:4 And He (Jesus) answered and said to them, "Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning made them male and female,' Mk 10:6 "But from the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female.' Mk 13:19 "For in those days there will be tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the creation which God created until this time, nor ever shall be. Mt 23:35 "...all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, ... If we do not believe in creation we can't believe in salvation! 1 Cor 15:21-22 21For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. 22For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. 2 Tim 3:16-17 -> "All scriptures is given by inspiration of God" will be a fallacy! Col 2:6-8 6As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. 8Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. Heb 11:1,3 1Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 3By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.
Exo 20:11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, (Exo 31:17) Why do you think God did the creation in 6 days?
Which scientific facts can we see in the Scriptures? GEN 9:4 "But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood. (Lev 17:11) Discovery of circulatory system in ~1620 Human ribs will regenerate if the periosteum, the membrane surrounding the rib, is left intact. (Reported paper 1981) Isa 40:22 It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in. Job 26:7-10 7He stretches out the north over empty space; He hangs the earth on nothing. 8He binds up the water in His thick clouds, Yet the clouds are not broken under it. ... 10He drew a circular horizon on the face of the waters, ... Milkyway disk! Job 38:4-6 4"Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding. 5Who determined its measurements? Surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it? 6To what were its foundations fastened? 1 Cor 15:38-40 38But God gives it a body as He pleases, and to each seed its own body. 39All flesh is not the same flesh, but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of animals, another of fish, and another of birds. 40There are also celestial bodies and terrestrial bodies; but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. 41There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory. Universe made of Invisible particles (Heb11:3), elements are divisible! -> 2 Pet 3:12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?
What about the dinosaurs? Job 40:15-19 15"Look now at the behemoth, which I made along with you; He eats grass like an ox. 16See now, his strength is in his hips, And his power is in his stomach muscles. 17He moves his tail like a cedar; The sinews of his thighs are tightly knit. 18His bones are like beams of bronze, His ribs like bars of iron. 19He is the first of the ways of God; Only He who made him can bring near His sword. -> Reptiles never stop growing, and if they could live few 100 years how much can they grow, largest lizard - 3m now!
What evidence is there for/against the Billions of years? Fossil formation: Do not need millions of years! Pressure & temp! Soft tissue, tools inside coal! C14 dating reliable - few k years Biogenesis: You can make the chemical, but not life! Only life generates life! Human chromosomes not from chimpanzee! 2 Tim 1:8-10 8Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, 9who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began, 10but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, Tit 1:2 in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began, Cosmologists think they know about the big bang from 10-43 seconds. What is before that time?
Ecclesiastes 12:1 Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them.
First & Second Law of Thermodynamics: Conservation of mass and energy | Increasing entropy (disorder) Neh 9:6 You alone are the LORD; You have made heaven, The heaven of heavens, with all their host, The earth and everything on it, The seas and all that is in them, And You preserve them all. The host of heaven worships You. Col. 1:16-17 16For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. Heb 1:2-3 2has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; 3who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
So what about satan and evil? Job 38 7When the morning stars sang together, And all the sons of God shouted for joy? Eze 28:3-4,13-17
Rom 5:12-21 12Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned; .. 14Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who had not sinned according to the likeness of the transgression of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come. 15But the free gift is not like the offense. For if by the one man's offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many. ... 17For if by the one man's offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.) 18Therefore, as through one man's offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man's righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life. 19For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man's obedience many will be made righteous.
Mt 24:34 "Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place. 35"Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. 36"But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. 37"But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 38"For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39"and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
What is the warning that we're given? 2 Pet 3:3-7 3knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, 4and saying,"Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation." 5For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, 6by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. 7But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
People use 2 Peter 3:8 and Psalm 90:4 to indicate that days are figurative - 1 day 1000 days & vice versa. But it is to tell us that the coming of the Lord is not a myth, for Him its like just 2 years!
