Bible Message/Preaching : God of (Im)possibilities - All things are possible!

But He said, "The things which are impossible with men are possible with God." (Lk 18:27)

God spoke to me this message when I was questioning Him about my ability to speak in a language that I scarcely use. I was asked to spoke God's word the coming Sunday in that language. Because of previous rejection about a message given, I was hesitant to do it. But the request happend repetedly. In my stubonness I demanded that He give me the complete message if He really want me to speak! As I was engaged in this debate His answer came so quickly and shut my mouth from further argument! He asked me "Is there anything impossible for the Me?" And then followed with the rest of the message that I knew He really wanted me to speak this.
This passage is mentioned in 3 of the gospels.
But Jesus looked at them and said, "With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible." (Mk 10: 27). But Jesus looked at them and said to them, "With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." (Mt 19:26) From context, this is talking about salvation.

Talking about impossibilities, Jesus said to him, "If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes." (MK 9:23)

Gen 15:1-6 After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying, "Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward." But Abram said, "Lord GOD, what will You give me, seeing I go childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?" Then Abram said, "Look, You have given me no offspring; indeed one born in my house is my heir!" And behold, the word of the LORD came to him, saying, "This one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir." Then He brought him outside and said, "Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them." And He said to him, "So shall your descendants be." And he believed in the LORD, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.

We see that Abraham believed in God and it was accounted to him for righteousness. But when the pressures of the world came (from sarai), he heard the word of his wife rather than of God!
Gen 16:2 So Sarai said to Abram, "See now, the LORD has restrained me from bearing children. Please, go in to my maid; perhaps I shall obtain children by her." And Abram heeded the voice of Sarai.
This become a snare for Him and the rest of His generation till this day...!!

Gen 16:11-12 And the Angel of the LORD said to her: "Behold, you are with child, And you shall bear a son. You shall call his name Ishmael, Because the LORD has heard your affliction. He shall be a wild man; His hand shall be against every man, And every man's hand against him. And he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren."

Dan 3:15-18 "Now if you are ready at the time you hear the sound of the horn, flute, harp, lyre, and psaltery, in symphony with all kinds of music, and you fall down and worship the image which I have made, good! But if you do not worship, you shall be cast immediately into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. And who is the god who will deliver you from my hands?" Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. "If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. "But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up."

What would be our situaton if Jesus had not submitted His will to the will of the Father for the ultimate purpose of salvation?

Mk 14:36 And He said, "Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will."

And we see that Job just wasted his time arguing with God. Only towards chapter 42 he come to the realisation of Who God is...

Job 42:1-3 Then Job answered the LORD and said: "I know that You can do everything, And that no purpose of Yours can be withheld from You. You asked, 'Who is this who hides counsel without knowledge?' Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand, Things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.

To be continued...

Prayer for Spiritual Wisdom:

Eph 1:17-20 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,

Delivered 28 Sept 2008
