If you are coming to Nijmegen to live here, be it few days or several months/years, it has a lot of accomodations to offer. There is shortage for accomodation in the public sector houses and the government has imposed several regulation on them.

  • Long Stay:

Nijmegen being an International city has several stuidos as well as normal apartments along with many student rooms, for rent. If you're a student you would've already in contact with SSHN for your student accomodation. This is exclusive for students studying in Nijmegen. The following section deals with the private housing agencies. You've to pay registration fee to join the site that are mentioned below (they are brockers) as well as upto 1 month rent as commission when you take something through them. This is one advantage when dealing directly with the landlords, which you can sometimes find in Marktplaats or other notice boards. You can also ask your Dutch collegues if they know of any landloards who has free space. Some of the B&B listed above also allows longterm stay, but you lack a kitchen in many cases. The following site www.Entree.nu is the organisation for public-sector housing in and around Nijmegen, since the waiting list is more than 7 years, most of you won't be able to make use of its services.

Direct Wonen is the biggest (and efficient even though expensive) agency for private housing. Please beware that there have been complaints about payments relating to thier automatic-account renewals. To see the available places in nijmegen go here. You have to keep in mind that most contracts are for 1 year and then for permanent, some might allow a contract less than 1 year.

    Other prominant sites are:

  • Funda
  • Pararius
  • 24Living Nijmegen (Rots-vast)
  • ACM (Verbeek)
  • Other smaller agencies:

  • WFA
  • Hestia
  • ST
  • If you are just looking for a room to share you can also have a look at kamernet.nl or kamer.nl.

There is another type of renting called temporary renting (Tijdelijk huur). You've less rights with this type of renting and is NOT advisable if you're looking for a long term rent. But these are much cheaper alternative due to this fact and is available quickly. See Interveste for more details. You've to pay a registration fee to see the details of available houses.
